Camí de Cavalls south is a section of the camino that goes around the island of Menorca, a breathtaking walking route of 20 official stages.
Perfectly signposted and following the coast, this is an ancient path 0f 185 km used by knights to guard the safety of the island. You will discover authentic fishing villages and the most fascinating deserted beaches in ultimate tranquility.
During your walking holiday in Menorca you will walk in 6 days along the south coast of the island, from Ciutadella to Maò/Mahòn, the capital of Menorca. We give you here 5 reasons to walk this route.

The itinerary of Cami de Cavalls South in 8 days!
Day 1 of Cami de Cavalls South
We will pick you up from Mahón airport, the capital of Menorca, and bring you to Ciutadella where you will spend the first night. You will have time to enjoy this beautiful city, walk through the narrow streets with stone houses of Marés, enjoy the local cuisine or make purchases in one of the many shops (after all we will take your luggage from hotel to hotel). Go to bed early, because the next day you will walk the first stages of Cami de Cavalls South from Ciutadella to Cap D’Artrutx.
Day 2 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Ciutadella to Cap D’Artrutx, 13 km.
Today you will walk the first stage of the Cami de Cavalls South. This will take you from Ciutadella to the Cap D’Artrutx lighthouse.
Distance: 13,2 km You will walk over low-lying cliffs that overlook the turquoise blue sea of the beaches of Santandría, Cala Blanca, Cala en Bastó and the Marina de Son Olivar. You will spend the night in Cala en Bosch and, while enjoying a delicious meal, see the beautiful sunset of Menorca.
Day 3 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Cap d’Artrutx to Cala Galdana, 17 km.
You will leave Cap D’Artrutx and start the 2nd stage of
Cami de Cavalls South that takes you along some of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Menorca. The stage ends at the famous
Cala Galdana beach. Distance: 17,37 Km. You will walk on very well-maintained paths between pine forests facing the Mediterranean Sea, inviteing you to take a swim. You can choose between the bays of
Son Saura,
Es Talaier,
Turqueta or opt for gems from
Cala Macarella and Macarelleta.The forest will protect you from the sun, but don’t forget to stay hydrated during your camino. You can go to the beach bar of Cala Macarella or that of Cala Galdana at the end of your stage.
Day 4 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Cala Galdana to Sant Tomás, 11 km.
Today stage 3 will take you from Cala Galdana to Sant Tomás. Distance: 11,56 km. The Cami de Cavalls South will leave for a few kilometers the coast, forwarded inland to some of the most important canyons of the island, such as Trebalúger and Sa Cova. You can also choose to continue to follow the path along the coast, arriving to the beaches of Trebalúger, Fustam and Escorxada. Before you will arrive in Sant Tomas, you will pass the beach of Binigaus, a paradise on Menorca. So if you want, take a swim. You will spend the night in Sant Tomás to rest from today’s walk.
Day 5 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Sant Tomás to Cala en Porter, 15 km.
Stage 4. Your walking holidays Menorca in the Cami de Cavalls South will start today in Sant Tomás and end in Cala en Porter. Distance: 15 Km. This stage is an easy walk. You will walk along very stunning views, such as the cliff area of Atalis, until you will reach the magic sandy dunes of Son Bou. Then, it will be time to enjoy a well-deserved delicious paella!
After you will have passed the hotels of Son Bou, you will go up until you see the beach of Llucalari from above, a unique place on Cami de Cavalls South. The road then descends to Cala en Porter, where you will spend the night. This is a very special location for watching the sunset.
Day 6 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Cala en Porter to Binibéquer, 13 km.
Stage 5 starts in Cala en Porter and ends in Binibéquer. Distance: 13,73 km. From here the Cami de Cavalls South will go through the fields until you will reach the canyon of Es Canutells with its olmos forest. Its view and centuries-old houses represent a part of the history of Menorca. Your will stay for the night in an agroturismo in Binibéquer, then you will enjoy a typic meal. We will pick you up and bring you back the next morning.
Day 7 of Cami de Cavalls South: from Binibéquer to Maó, 17 km.
This last stage of your walking holidays Menorca in the Cami de Cavalls South will start in Binibéquer and will end in Maó, the capital of the island of Menorca. Distance: 17,69 km. The camino today goes through almost virgin terrain, a comfortable and no-slopes track, that will lead you to the Alacaufar tower. From here to Cala San Esteve the road goes inland.
You will continue the path to Es Castell and through the streets of the old town that will lead you to Maó. Enjoy the bars and the gastronomy, but look also at the special buildings with remains of different cultures. In the port of Maó the southern route of the Camí de Cavalls ends and the camino starts along the north coast…but that might be something for next year?
Day 8 of Cami de Cavalls South
After your night in Maó and a delicious breakfast, it will be time to pack your bags and return home… or maybe do you want to spend another night on the island? Why not! 😉
