During your walking holiday in Menorca you will walk in 6 days along the south coast of the island, from Ciutadella to Maò/Mahòn, the capital of Menorca. We give you here 5 reasons to walk this route.
We will pick you up from Mahón airport, the capital of Menorca, and bring you to Ciutadella where you will spend the first night. We will pick you up from Mahón airport, the capital of Menorca, and bring you to Ciutadella where you will spend the first night. You have time to enjoy this beautiful city, walk through the narrow streets with stone houses of Marés, enjoy the local cuisine or to make purchases in one of the many shops (after all we take your luggage from hotel to hotel anyway ). Go to bed early, because the next day you walk the first stages of Camí de Cavalls from Ciutadella to Cap D’Artrutx.
Today you walk the first stage of the Camí de Cavalls. This will take you from Ciutadella to the Cap D’Artrutx lighthouse. Distance: 13,2 km You walk over low-lying cliffs that overlook the turquoise blue sea of the beaches of Santandría, Cala Blanca, Cala and Bastó and the Marina de Son Olivar. You spend the night in Cala en Bosch and, while enjoying a delicious meal, see the beautiful sunset of Menorca.
You leave Cap D’Artrutx and you start the 2nd stage of Camí de Cavallas that takes you along some of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Menorca. The stage ends at the famous Cala Galdana beach. Distance: 17,37 Km You walk on very well-maintained paths between pine forests and on the right the Mediterranean Sea that invites you to take a swim. You can choose between the bays of Son Saura, Es Talaier, Turqueta or opt for gems from Cala Macarella and Macarelleta. The forest protects you against the sun, but don’t forget to drink water during your camino. You can go to the beach bar of Cala Macarella or that of Cala Galdana at the end of your stage.
Today stage 3 will take you from Cala Galdana to Sant Tomás. Distance: 11,56 km The Camí de Cavalls says for a few kilometers goodbye to the coast. He goes inland to some of the most important canyons of the island, such as Trebalúger and Sa Cova. You can also choose to continue to follow the path along the coast to the beaches of Trebalúger, Fustam and Escorxada. Before you arrive in Sant Tomas you will pass the beach of Binigaus, a paradise on Menorca. So if you want, take a swim… You spend the night in Sant Tomás to rest from today’s walk.
Stage 4 of the Camí de Cavalls starts in Sant Tomás and ends in Cala en Porter. Distance: 15 Km This stage is a easy walk. You walk along very beautiful coast, such as the cliff area of Atalis, until you reach the beautiful sand and dunes of Son Bou. Enjoy a delicious paella! After you have passed the hotels of Son Bou, you go up until you see the beach of Llucalari from above, a unique place on Camí de Cavalls. The road then descends to Cala and Porter. You spend the night in beautiful Cala en Porter. We know that there is a very special place to watch the sunset. Do you dare to climb?
Stage 5 starts in Cala en Porter and ends in Binibéquer. Distance: 13,73 km From here the Camí de Cavalls goes through the fields until you reach the canyon of Es Canutells with its Olmos forest. The view and the centuries-old houses represent a part of the history of Menorca. Your stay for the night in an agroturismo in Binibéquer (if available). You enjoy a delicious and well-deserved meal. We will pick you up and bring you back the next morning.
This last stage of Camí de Cavalls starts in Binibéquer and ends in Maó, the capital of the island of Menorca. Distance: 17,69 km The camino today goes through almost virgin terrain, comfortably and without slopes until you reach the Alacaufar tower. From here to Cala San Esteve the road goes inland. You continue the path to Es Castell and through the streets of the old town that lead you to Maó. Enjoy the bars and the gastronomy, but look also at the special buildings with remains of different cultures. In the port of Maó the southern route of the Camí de Cavalls ends and the camino starts along the north coast…but that might be something for next year?
After your night in Maó and a delicious breakfast, it’s time to pack your bags and return home … or do you want to spend another night on the island?
NO This a shared experience. You can enjoy with men or women.
Yes, that is possible. However, you must be a experienced mountain biker. Ask us about the possibilities.
We select our accommodations very carefully. You usually sleep in hotels, but depending on the time of the year you need to sleep in an apartment or rural house. And remember .... don´t be worried about your luggage we move it from hotel to hotel.
