Overview

8-DAY WALK IN IBIZA

The island of Ibiza is one of the islands belonging to the Balearic Islands, an archipelago east of mainland Spain. Ibiza is best known as a party island, as a hippie island and as an island where you can completely relax. It is sometimes said that a visit to Ibiza changes you forever. It is no coincidence that many people who have visited Ibiza once, go back at least once to relive the unique feeling you experience here. Ibiza is one of a kind. Ibiza is Ibiza!

But how about a walk in Ibiza? You get to know the island in a completely different way during a walk in Ibiza.

Eating during your walk in Ibiza

Food in Ibiza is quite comparable to elsewhere in tourist areas in Spain. You can eat almost anything in Ibiza, from steak to fresh fish, from tapas to paella and from Chinese to English. Responsible meals, both in terms of health and ecologically sound, is the new trend in Ibiza. This often results in delicious fusion dishes that are mainly inspired by Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. However, if you just want a simple piece of meat with fries, you can also eat that in Ibiza.

Walk in Ibiza

Did you know that almost half of the island of Ibiza consists of a protected nature reserve? That of course provides fantastic views during your walk in Ibiza and the most special places to visit. A walk in Ibiza is the ideal way to discover these places. In fact, nature is so vast and large that there is a good chance that you will not meet anyone at all during your walk in Ibiza.

Often that is exactly what many hikers and nature lovers are looking for. Of course there are many different walking routes on the island that lead you past the most beautiful places. There are even so many hiking trails that you can always choose one that suits you and your situation. You can walk beautiful rural routes inland, but there are also beautiful routes along the rugged coastline. And of course there are short and long routes, so there is something for everyone! During this 8-day walk in Ibiza, we will show you the most beautiful places of Ibiza while walking…

Good to know: The stages as included in this 8-day walk in Ibiza can vary depending on, for example, the weather. All information about the stages is approximate.

PROGRAM FROM DAY TO DAY

Day 1: Arrival in Ibiza

We will pick you up from the airport in Ibiza town. And take you to the hotel where you spend the first night. You will have time to enjoy this beautiful city, stroll through the narrow streets with stone houses, enjoy the local cuisine or make purchases in one of the many shops (after all, we carry your luggage from hotel to hotel anyway). We advise you to go to bed early, because the next day you will start your walk in Ibiza with the first stage.

Day 2: Paladium – Siete Picos – Salinas 16 km

Depart from the end of Platja d’en Bossa and the first thing you will encounter is the Torre des Carregador. It is located on the south side of Platja d’en Bossa, on a rocky promontory that flows into the bay of Sa Sal Rossa. From the tower you have a wide panoramic view over the islets on the way to Formentera, Platja d’en Bossa and even Dalt Vila. It is one of the oldest on the island and was built in the 16th century to protect the personnel who worked in the salt pans, a constant target of pirate attacks. From there, the entire Las Salinas Natural Park is bordered. It passes through the beaches of Es Cavallet and Las Salinas. Once this flatter area is completed, you will be faced with steep up and down hills again during the last part of this stage.

Day 3: Es Codolar – Es Cubells 18 km

Today you mainly continue walking along the coast of the island. Allow plenty of time for this stage and take enough water with you for the journey. There are no fountains in Ibiza and no refreshment points to be found today. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful walk and if the weather is nice, you will enjoy it immensely! On the way you pass Es Cubells as the only town (after 13 km). This is one of the most typical towns in Ibiza.

Es Cubells Es Vedra

Day 4: Es Cubells – Cala Tarida 13 km

Stage, which despite being short, is difficult. You will start from the town of Es Cubells, a small, quiet and beautiful village. From there it goes to Cala Llentrisca. The descent is on a narrow path that takes you to the beach. You leave Cala Llentrisca on the right and start a long climb. When you have completed this entire ascent, a descent begins and after 100 meters you take a path to the left that goes up again. Then almost the whole stage is downhill, which is very technical in the beginning. It’s hard work, but the impressive, spectacular views are more than worth it!

Day 5 Cala Tarida – Sant Antoni 17 km

During this stage you will see the Calas de Sant Josep. It passes through several coves and cliffs, where you can enjoy incredible sunsets reflected in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. Of the routes in Ibiza, it is one of the most complete and diverse, because you will find mountains, forests, rocky terrain, cliffs, islets and remote and hidden places. The starting point of this route is Cala Tarida. The route runs along the coast of the island and is almost always very close to the sea. It passes through Cala Bassa, Cala Comte, Cala Codolar, Cala Corral and even reaches Sant Antoni. One of the most interesting points on this route is the Torre d’En Rovira.
Walking Hiking in San Antonio Ibiza

Day 6: Sant Antoni – Sant Mateo 20 km

Another coastal route today. You will see Punta Galera and Cala Aubarca.
Cap Nonó is the name given to the promontory located just north of Sant Antoni. It has a considerable height and is completely covered with pine trees, except on the slope that faces the sea. From the whole bay of Sant Antoni, where you start the route, Cap Nonó is clearly visible, with its characteristic shape.

Day 7: Sant Mateo – Port San Miquel 14 km

During this route you will see the northern part of the island. This part will fascinate you with the purity of the landscape.
From the high areas you can see the small coves, something that will certainly encourage you to go down the mountain as the views are impressive. Once you arrive, you will find a pristine environment surrounded by vegetation and its famous fishing huts. Surrounded by steep cliffs and mountains full of green vegetation.

FAQs

Are these hikes suitable for hikers that are not in super condition?

This walk is accessible for everyone, but we recommend experience and a good physical condition. The stages do have a lot of difference in height and that makes the hikes heavy.

What do I carry with me?

You walk with your backpack. Don’t pack your bag too full. In the evening you don’t need more than some clothes to relax in. You need a jersey and don’t forget your flip flops. During the day you need enough water, something to eat, sunscreen and a raincoat. The rest of the luggage will be carried from accommodation to accommodation.
