Overview

Many people imagine the Camino de Santiago as a journey on foot, but cycling it is another beautiful way to experience it. Enjoying the Camino by bike or ebike lets you feel the same spirit of pilgrimage while gliding through open landscapes, breathing in the Atlantic breeze, and enjoying every turn of the path at your own pace. It’s perfect for those who want the freedom of movement, a touch of adventure, and the joy of exploring more in less time.

On this Camino Portugués by ebike along the coast, you’ll pedal through the regions of Minho in Portugal and Galicia in Spain. Expect rivers that shimmer in the sunlight, valleys filled with vineyards, gentle hills, and charming villages where time seems to stand still. Along the way, you’ll meet friendly locals, taste regional delicacies, and connect with fellow travellers who share your love for discovery and the open road.

IMPORANT! Cycling with ebikes does not qualify you for the Compostela. To receive the official Compostela certificate, you must ride a traditional bike and cover at least 200 kilometres. Read more about the rules here.

Starting your Camino Portugués by ebike along the coast in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Porto, you will occasionally ride on an ancient Roman road and cross many Roman bridges. You’ll also discover towns and cities with stunning ancient architecture and fascinating history.

Once you cross the Minho River, you will discover the stunning cathedral in Tui and Redondela’s viaducts and the medieval centre of Pontevedra. Riverside Caldas de Reis is famous for its soothing thermal waters, while Padrón lays claim to St. James’s first burial spot. His remains have since been relocated to what is now a monumental cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, where you will celebrate the end of your trip.

To keep your energy levels up along the Camino Portugués by ebike along the coast, enjoy the rich flavours of Portuguese and Spanish cuisine, from fresh local produce and hearty regional dishes to a glass of crisp vinho verde.

Camino Portugues By Ebike

Among our cycling options, this Camino Portugués by ebike along the coast from Porto to Santiago is the most accessible and scenic route. With direct flights to Porto, it’s the best-connected part of the Camino de Santiago – and one of the most inspiring: beautiful beaches, an amazing landscape, two different countries, and the Atlantic Ocean await you!

If you prefer to walk the Camino Portugues, we offer several ways such as the Camino Portugués Porto–Tui in 8 days, the Camino Portugués Central Tui–Santiago in 8 days, the Espiritual Variant Tui–Santiago in 8 days, the Camino Portugués Coastal Baiona–Santiago in 8 days, or the full Camino Portugués Coastal Porto–Santiago in 16 days. If you need help deciding whether to choose the inland or coastal route, read our blog post here.

We also offer other cycling adventures. If you prefer to cycle with an ebike, you can choose the Camino Frances Pamplona to León or the León to Santiago section by ebike. If you have something else in mind, send us an email at hey@waw.travel and we can discuss whether that is a possible route.
