Is it possible to walk 1 week Camino de Santiago? Is this really possible? Well, the answer is short: YES! It is even possible to walk 1 week Camino to Santiago and get your Compostela. And that’s good news, because not everyone has the time and freedom to be away for weeks. So even if you only have seven or eight days, you can enjoy the charm of the Camino de Santiago. In this blog, we list the options for 1 week of Camino de Santiago for you.

1 Week Santiago De Compostela

Camino Frances van Sarria naar Santiago

The Camino Frances is the most popular pilgrimage route to Santiago. The entire pilgrimage route crosses northern Spain from Navarre to Santiago de Compostela, a route that takes at least a month. But if you only have 1 week for this Camino de Santiago, the most popular option among pilgrims is to start in Sarria (Lugo). Sarria is even – according to data from the Santiago Centre for Pilgrim Services (Oficina de Atención al Peregrino de Santiago) – the starting point for the largest number of pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago.

From Sarria, you will cover the last 114 kilometres of the Camino, the minimum required for a Compostela (the document that serves as proof of making the pilgrimage to Santiago).

During your 1-week Camino de Santiago, you will walk 6 stages, passing exclusively through Galicia. Along the way, you will pass traditional villages with many traditions, such as Sarria, Portomarín, Melide and Arzúa. As on the whole Camino Frances, signage from Sarria to Santiago is excellent.

Would you like to walk to Santiago de Compostela, but find it exciting to go alone? Or are you thinking how to do it all? Are you at a point in your life when you need some rest or reflection? Camino Portugues from Tui to Santiago

The Camino Portugues is the second most popular route among pilgrims. Although this route largely runs along the Portuguese side of the border, you can also start in Tui (Spain) and complete the last part of this Camino within a week. Since it is over 115 km, this means that completing this section is also enough to get the Compostela on arrival in Santiago.

With a significant number of walkers, perfect signage and a large number of accommodations, you’ll walk carefree through areas of protected natural beauty, overlooking Galician vineyards. You will walk the six stages during 1 week of Camino de Santiago and pass through villages such as Tui, O Porriño, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis or Padrón.

Would you like to walk to Santiago de Compostela but find it exciting to go alone? Or do you think how should it all be done? Are you at a point in your life when you need some rest or reflection? Or do you just want to hike carefree and enjoy the beautiful nature on one of the many caminos? Then check out one of our walking trips or feel free to contact us.

Camino Spiritual

Camino Espiritual

The Camino Espiritual, a variant of the Camino Portugués, starts in the city of Pontevedra and runs for two stages through the beautiful region of O Salnés. You make the same journey by boat across the sea as the remains of the apostle St James.

The Camino Espiritual is the ideal route to get away from it all in 1 week Camino de Santiago, away from the crowds. A journey in which to discover the beautiful fishing villages of the Rías Baixas, stunning coastal landscapes and exquisite seafood-based gastronomy.

But besides the experience over the sea, on this variant you will discover plenty of beautiful monuments and landscapes, such as the monastery of Armenteira or the route of A Piedra y Aqua, a beautiful 8km stretch characterised by the presence of dozens of water mills surrounded by dense vegetation.

Camino van Santiago from Finisterre and Muxia

If you have a week off and want to experience the Camino, Santiago can also serve as the starting point instead of the end point of your pilgrimage. Fisterra or Muxía is then the end point. The Camino to Fisterra or Muxia starts from the Apostle’s tomb and leads to the so-called “End of the World”. This six-day pilgrimage has recently undergone a major metamorphosis, improving signage.

Arriving in Fisterra is one of the most magical experiences. The Camino to Fisterra or Muxía also has its own Compostela: in this case, the Fisterrana or Muxiana after your 1-week Camino de Santiago.

1 Week Camino De Compostela Finisterre

Camino from San Sebastian to Bilbao

Want to walk 1 week of Camino de Santiago but don’t necessarily need to arrive in Santiago? More and more pilgrims are choosing to walk the Camino del Norte instead of the increasingly crowded Camino Frances. And with good reason! Because the Camino de Norte is a unique pilgrimage. You follow the green coast of northern Spain, enjoying the most beautiful views of the Cantabrian Sea along the way.

In northern Spain, nature is beautiful, wild and green. The landscape alternates between the sea and mountains, offering countless opportunities for wonderful hiking. While the south may welcome the majority of tourists, the North is wonderfully quiet and unspoilt. Life there is still pure and authentic. And the gastronomy? To savour. Northern Spain’s cuisine is known as one of the most innovative in the world. There is a reason why so many Michelin restaurants can be found in San Sebastian, for example. You’ll combine pilgrimage with 2 beautiful cities during this 1-week Camino de Santiago: Bilbao and San Sebastian.

Camino Primitivo from Lugo

Part of the Camino Primitivo can be done in a week and is one of the most difficult but also one of the most beautiful pilgrimage routes to do. At 104 km long, which is enough to get the Compostela, starting from the capital of Lugo. Here you can see the beautiful Roman wall surrounding the city, which is a World Heritage Site.

The stages cross the interior of Galicia, where villages with a great gastronomic tradition are waiting to be discovered. Think Melide, famous for its fine octopus dishes. The last three stages are the same as those of the Camino Frances.
