In this trip you will be able to enjoy a road trip in north Spain, we will organize everything for you, from the accommodation to the best itineraries to travel with your car.
The journey begins in Bilbao to enjoy its spectacular change to a beautiful, cultural and connected city. We will do a Basque coast road trip between Bilbao and San Sebastián. We will see unique places like San Juan de Gaztelugatxe or the Urdaibai biosphere reserve. We will visit fishing villages like Leketio and Getaria. We will visit the streets and buildings of one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, San Sebastián-Donostia. If you like culture, you can visit Contemporary Art in all Basque cities.
In Santander we will be 2 nights. Time to walk around the city. Tour around Santander bay. If you like to observe animals in the wild, we can visit the Cabárceno Natural Park.
Our next stay will be 4 nights near the town of LLanes in Asturias. We can enjoy the beaches on the eastern coast of Asturias. Beautiful beaches that we can reach also by walking some of the stages of the Camino de Santiago del Norte.
From the sea to the mountains. Next destination of our holidays in Northern Spain 2 nights in the Picos de Europa National Park. We will sleep in the province of León to be able to walk along the Ruta del Cares.
We will approach the city of León to sleep one night. Visit its streets and enjoy its history and gastronomy. In León we invite you to a dinner.

Finally we have to close the trip with 2 nights in the province of Vitoria to enjoy a tourism concept that we are passionate about. Slow tourism.It’s time to relax. Connect with nature. Let yourself be seduced by yoga, meditation or forest baths. It is time for healthy food. It is your valuable time.
On the last day after a good rest and breakfast you will have time to return the car to the Bilbao airport and relax to return home.

On the first day of your road trip in north Spain we will land at Bilbao airport. We will take the rental car and we will have theas a destination city of Bilbao to rest in the selected hotel. Time to locate the Old Quarter, the Arriaga theater, the Guggenheim museum, the University of Deusto, and the football Cathedral, as to say, the Atlético de Bilbao stadium.
We propose to sleep 3 nights in Bilbao, but we can study other alternatives.
On days 2 and 3 we can distribute them to visit on the Basque coast. To get out of Bilbao we recommend driving to Portugalete and crossing to Getxo using its famous Bizkaia suspension bridge. Then we continue along the coast passing through Plentzia and Bakio until we reach the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe church. We will have to climb 241 steps, but it is worth it.
We will be able to visit in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, the fishing villages of Mundaka and Elantxobe and the beaches of Laida and Laga. Continuing along the coast we will arrive at the fishing village of Lekeitio.
The next day we can go to San Sebastián-Donostia and its famous urban beach of La Concha with no doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
There are plenty of things to do and events to attend: the city is home to the International Film Festival and the Festival Jazzaldia. During several days of the month of August there is a fireworks competition that you can observe brilliantly from Monte Igueldo.
The gastronomy of San Sebastián is one of the best in the world with 11 restaurants in the Michelin Guide.
If you want to spend the night in San Sebastián, you can go to visit Hondarribia, Zarautz or Getaria, beautiful towns on the Basque coast.
We depart from Bilbao towards Santander. We propose you to visit the Natural Park of the marshes of Santoña on the way to the city of Santander where we will stay.
We can take advantage of the afternoon to walk around the city, visit the Palacio de la Magdalena, the former royal summer residence, the Sardinero beach, the Centro Botín of contemporary art.
or come by car to watch the sunset at Cape Mayor. Santander night is a good opportunity to taste its gastronomy. You can enjoy your accommodation in the city center.
The next day we will dedicate ourselves to touring Santander Bay visiting the Puntal Dunes and the Miera Estuary.
If you like to see animals in the wild, don’t miss the Cabarceno Nature Park.
We leave Santander to enjoy 4 nights in the Llanes area, Asturias province.
This holidays to the north of Spain takes us to an area of beautiful beaches, surrounded by the green color of the gorse, eucalyptus, pine slopes and in the background the majesty of the Picos de Europa.
Leaving Santander we stop to visit the village of Santillana del Mar. The town was declared a historic-artistic complex in 1889. In its vicinity is the Altamira cave, protected as a World Heritage Site.
We follow the route to visit the Comillas village, the Oyambre beach on the way to San Vicente de la Barquera.
Our accommodation for the next 4 nights is in the vicinity of Llanes from where we can go to spend a day at the beach in true paradises such as Playa de Ballota, Playa de Torimbia (one of our favorites in Spain).
The Camino de Santiago del Norte runs through some of these beaches in case we feel like walking some sections.
We have time to rest, walk, enjoy Asturian food and the famous ciders.
Our holidays in Northern Spain will move from the beach to the mountains. Just at the back of Llanes is the mountain range of Picos de Europa. Spain’s first national park since 1918. It belongs to the provinces of Santander, Asturias and León. We will drive from Llanes to Valdeón. Here we will spend 2 days of vacation in Picos de Europa. We have chosen a very nice place for you, with good views of the mountains. You can take walks such as the Cares route or the climb to Vegabaño.
On the way to the city of León we will pass through the town of Riaño. Here we can ride a boat to tour the Riaño reservoir surrounded by the Picos de Europa mountains.
In the City of León a day full of interesting things awaits us. Visit the Cathedral of León, the Basilica of San Isidoro and walk through its streets in the old town enjoying its viands. Here we have prepared a surprise for you. You are invited to a dinner. And if we are in the city and you feel like we can accompany you.
We will leave the city of León for the Basque Country, passing if we feel like it in the city of Burgos.
We will arrive at a town in the province of Vitoria-Gasteiz where our objective will be to meet nature with an attentive, slow, slow gaze.
Stroll, meditate, do yoga or forest baths. Feeling unique.
