Your hiking on Mallorca GR221 will start in the Refuge Can Boi in Deia. You will need to follow the signed path GR221 direction to Soller. When you get to Can Prohom you will need to follow the direction to Port Soller and continue until you get to Refuge Muleta. On the way, there is a beautiful view of the bay with the picturesque town of Port de Sóller. The wonderful view is from the lighthouse next to Refugi de Muleta. Port Soller has a nice beach and a pretty little harbour. There runs an antique train from Puerto de Soller to Soller. It’s worth a ride and a visit.
Today you walk a very small distance between Puerto de Soller and Soller, only about 8 km along the GR221. Take this day as a resting day and to get just a little closer to the heavier hike on day 4. You walk through habited surroundings, almost all hike is on a stone road. It is also possible to take the antique train to Soller . The city of Soller is famous because of its citrics – lemons and oranges. You will find little shops, restaurants in the beautiful old town.
On day 4 you walk from Soller to Tossals Verds. This is the heaviest day. We recommend you to start early, so you can take your time for this amazing part of the GR221. You will start the day 4 of walking holidays in Mallorca taking Biniaraix. Here is the point where you start climbing the Barranc (gorg) of Biniaraix. This time you climb to reach Tossals Verds soon. The refuge is located in nature, nothing else to see, just mountains and trees – it’s our favourite!
You start climbing to Coll de ses cases de Neu. This stage of hiking on Mallorca GR221 has a lot of storages and snow-houses. The second part of the hike goes straight through the forests. The name comes from the Latin ‘Lucus’ that means ‘holy forest’. Once you arrive in Lluc, the refuge is only 20 minutes away.
The hike is pretty long but not super heavy. You walk to Pollença, most of the time through the forest. There are a lot of photo moments, when you have amazing views over all the peaks of Mallorca. In Deia starts the part of GR221 which is best signed. You have the option to start in Valldemossa adding at least 13 kilometers to the planned route. Ask us for the possibilities.
The GR221 is accessible for everyone, but we recommend experience and a good physical condition. The stages do have a lot of difference in height and that makes the hikes heavy.
You walk with your backpack. Don’t pack your bag too full. In the evening you don’t need more than some clothes to relax in. You need a jersey and don’t forget your flip flops. During the day you need enough water, something to eat, sunscreen and a raincoat. The rest of the luggage will be carried from accommodation to accommodation.
You can contact us anytime 24/7. We will see how can we help you.
Amazing Experience!!!
