Overview
Camí de Cavalls South is a section of the camino that goes around the island of Menorca, a breathtaking walking route of 20 official stages.
Perfectly signposted and following the coast, this is an ancient path of 185 km used by knights to guard the safety of the island. You will discover authentic fishing villages and the most fascinating deserted beaches in ultimate tranquility.
During your walking holiday in Menorca you will walk in 3 days along the south coast of the island, from Ciutadella to Maó/Mahón, the capital of Menorca. We give you here 5 reasons to walk this route.
We will pick you up from Maó airport, the capital of Menorca, and bring you to Ciutadella where you will spend the first night. You will have time to enjoy this beautiful city, walk through the narrow streets with stone houses of Marés, enjoy the local cuisine or make purchases in one of the many shops (after all we will take your luggage from hotel to hotel). You will leave Cap D’Artrutx in the morning and start the 1st stage of Cami de Cavalls South that takes you along some of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Menorca. The stage ends at the famous Cala Galdana beach. Distance: 17,37 Km. You will walk on very well-maintained paths between pine forests facing the Mediterranean Sea, inviteing you to take a swim. You can choose between the bays of Son Saura, Es Talaier, Turqueta or opt for gems from Cala Macarella and Macarelleta. The forest will protect you from the sun, but don’t forget to stay hydrated during your camino. You can go to the beach bar of Cala Macarella or that of Cala Galdana at the end of your stage.
Today stage 2 will take you from Cala Galdana to Sant Tomás. Distance: 11,56 km. The Cami de Cavalls South will leave for a few kilometers the coast, forwarded inland to some of the most important canyons of the island, such as Trebalúger and Sa Cova. You can also choose to continue to follow the path along the coast, arriving to the beaches of Trebalúger, Fustam and Escorxada. Before you will arrive in Sant Tomas, you will pass the beach of Binigaus, a paradise on Menorca. So if you want, take a swim. You will spend the night in Sant Tomás to rest from today’s walk.
Stage 3. Your walking holidays Menorca in the Cami de Cavalls South will start today in Sant Tomás and end in Cala en Porter. Distance: 15 Km. This stage is an easy walk. You will walk along very stunning views, such as the cliff area of Atalis, until you will reach the magic sandy dunes of Son Bou. Then, it will be time to enjoy a well-deserved delicious paella! After you will have passed the hotels of Son Bou, you will go up until you see the beach of Llucalari from above, a unique place on Cami de Cavalls South. The road then descends to Cala en Porter, where you will spend the night. This is a very special location for watching the sunset.
