The Camino Frances goes from Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela and is the most used and best known pilgrimage. The Camino Frances leads to well-known Spanish pilgrim places such as Pamplona, Puente la Reina, Leon, Burgos and Cruz de Ferro to Santiago de Compostela.
The total pilgrimage is about 850 kilometers long. And you don’t need a guidebook along the way, we know from our own experience. All around you see the famous yellow arrows. But also countless other creations that show you the way to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The tour breathes the energy of pilgrimage. Pilgrims from all over the world gather: fat, thin, young, old, from succesfull businessman to recently graduated student. Together they share joys and sorrows along the way. And that is a special energy to experience.
Extend your camino
But it is not only this that makes the Camino Frances so unique. The many villages and towns that you pass during your pilgrimage are also completely devoted to the pilgrim. In fact, some hamlets would not have existed without the many pilgrims who flock here every year for a well-deserved rest during their camino. The cathedrals of Burgos and Leon are also definitely worth a visit. Maybe you want to stay there an extra night? Which can! We make a tailor-made proposal for you.
The Camino Francés is also a very varied camino. From the Pyrenees in Saint Jean Pied de Port, the grain fields in the Pamplona region, the flat meseta between Burgos and Leon to the green forests of Galicia. All these beautiful landscapes pass you by at a slow pace. The camino Frances is also ideal for a shorter pilgrimage. Do you have 2 weeks? Then you can easily walk from Leon to Santiago de Compostela. You need a week by bike. Do you want to experience what it is like to be a pilgrim, but you only have a week? Then start in Sarria. You then walk the last 100 km to the Cathedral of Santiago and that is enough to pick up your Compostela from the pilgrimage office.
The Camino Frances offers something for everyone.
